Head Teacher's Welcome & News

Dear Parents,

This time of year is marked by the blossoming of nature, and the lengthening of days.  It is a time of hope, rebirth, and new beginnings.

We have celebrated Nowruz-Persian New Year, the Spring Equinox, and Easter with the children, with help from the families and staff who celebrate. We celebrated St Patrick's Day with traditional music and dancing.  All the classes took part in the French play.

Class VIII presented their projects confidently and assuredly to the Classes, with much wonder and respect from the younger children.  It is always so joyful to see them inspired by the work of the older children and start to imagine their future projects. It was also an opportunity for the community to see the quality of this education through their presentations.

We wish you a restful break and a wonderful Eid and Passover for those of you celebrating, and we look forward to seeing you on 17th April when we return to School for the Summer term.

St Patrick's Day

We were lucky to have an Irish Music and Dance group, the St Patrick's Day Troupe in School on St Patrick's Day.  The students loved to see Finn Doherty who used to be a student at St Paul's and now a musician.

French Play

It was such a joy seeing all the children unite to perform their rendition of Notre-Dame de Paris. It has been a complex process and many realised how difficult musicals are to prepare- especially in another language. Yet they all put their best feet forward and delivered a beautiful performance. Rare are the schools where children perform plays in another language and our children should feel very proud.

Class VIII have been working independently over the last few months, researching a project of their choosing.  They showcased their culmination of efforts through presentations, practical demonstrations, and bookwork, with seven students presenting each night. They've honed their practical skills, collaborated with mentors, and meticulously prepared engaging presentations to impart their newfound knowledge.  It was a joy to see the students so confidently presenting and the other students so inspired by them.

All activities include a free healthy lunch which helps families when schools are closed.

Childminder recruitment and retention Department for Education (DfE) questionnaire

A new consultation launched by the DfE asks childminders, parents, providers and local authorities for their thoughts on how government can support more childminders to join and stay in the profession.

The DfE welcomes responses from childminders, those that work with and represent them, parents and local authorities. It also welcomes responses from all providers regarding monthly payments of early education funding. Consultation closes on 10 May 2024.

Reminder: Free childcare codes for working parents, validation this term

If you have received free childcare codes for working parents relating to children already in your setting or new children starting in April, please validate these codes on the provider portal this term, rather than waiting until next term.

This is to ensure that any issues with a parent’s code can be flagged now, giving time for any issues to be addressed before 31 March. In order for eligible working parents with two year olds to receive free hours in April, they must have a valid code by 31 March.

Places available: Help me to help myself - scaffolding steps towards independence

Friday 19 April 2024

This interactive face to face half day course considers the place for fostering independence as a pedagogical principle as well as an embedded expectation within the Early years foundation stage (EYFS) and Ofsted inspections.

Young children can be very resourceful and resilient and when left to their own devices or given opportunities to be independent, they can truly surprise us. This course harnesses this spirit, exploring the journey towards independence and, according to the latest evidence, how to carefully plan the steps necessary for children to ‘help themselves’.
