Dear St Paul's School Community,
As the wheel of the year turns once more and we come to the close of this school year, I find myself reflecting on the journey we have shared. It has been a year filled with growth, wonder, and learning — not only for the children but for all of us who walk alongside them. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your continued support of our school and the unique education we strive to provide.
Many of you will already know that from the start of the new academic year, we will officially be known as St Paul’s Waldorf School. This new name reflects our deep roots in Steiner-Waldorf education while also embracing the evolving journey of our community. The change comes after thoughtful reflection and conversations with staff, trustees, parents, and students. While the name may be new, the heart of what we do — nurturing the head, heart, and hands of each child — remains as strong as ever.
This past year has been rich with experiences beyond the classroom, with recent class trips standing out as particular highlights. From Class VIII travelling to Athens, Class VI journeying to Naples to immerse themselves in Ancient Rome, to Class III embarking on their first overnight trip to experience life on a working farm — these adventures have created deep and lasting memories that will be cherished for years to come.
As we close out the year, we bid farewell to our wonderful handwork teacher, Ms. Garland, as she begins her maternity leave. We wish her all the very best during this special time and look forward to hearing her happy news in the months ahead.
We’re also deeply grateful to Maisie for the fantastic work she’s done in admissions over the past couple of years, helping to bring in strong enrolment for the coming year. We’re pleased to share that Maisie will be stepping in as the handwork teacher during Ms. Garland’s maternity leave, beginning in September.
We also want to express our gratitude to Pam, who has done a fantastic job running reception over the years. Pam will be going part-time in September and job sharing with Gabrielle, who we welcome to our school from North London Rudolf Steiner School. A big thank you as well to Molly, our cook, whose delicious meals have been a much-loved part of the new Kindergarten lunch system introduced this year. Her care and creativity in the kitchen have added something truly special to the children's daily rhythm.
Our dear Class VIII will spread their wings at this week's end-of-term festival, moving on to new and exciting adventures. Their academic and personal growth during their time with us is a testament to the dedication of their teachers and the love and support of their families. It has been a joy to watch them grow — some from their earliest days in Kindergarten — and while they will be dearly missed, we send them off with every good wish for the journey ahead.
Looking ahead, we’re delighted to share that Ms. Tate will be leading the Rising Class I from September. She will be joined on Fridays by Ms. Perrett, who returns to support the class once more.
This weekend marks our Work Days — Saturday through Monday — when the Kindergartens will be packed up and classrooms reorganised in preparation for the new school year. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has signed up to help with these important transitions over the summer.
As the summer holidays approach, I hope we can all find time away from screens and reconnect with loved ones in a present, intentional way — noticing the seasonal rhythms that nature so generously offers. I encourage you to rest, play, and spend time outdoors. Let the children explore, wonder, and dream, for this too is an essential part of their education.
I look forward to seeing you all in the new school year, ready to continue this journey together.
Wishing you all a peaceful, joyful, and restorative summer,
Ms. Anna Retsler
Headteacher
