Whitsun

We celebrated a beautiful Kindergarten Whitsun festival with our children and parents all coming together in the Hall for a story, songs and the lighting of candles. We listened to a little verse translated and read in many languages by our parents. How beautiful to hear all the different languages. Thank you for coming to join us this morning, and thank you for being bold enough to read the verse.

Shine little light

Shine so bright

Shine with all your might

Make me strong

Make me bold

Turn my words to living gold

All Classes and staff decorated a paper dove with imagery reflecting their cultural heritage.  Children in the lower school brought in food from their culture and what a feast we had!

Class VII performed their play Eleanor of Aquitaine to the Classes and friends and family.  Their Class teacher Mrs Akuwudike wrote the play based on the life of this strong medieval female, who they studied as part of their medieval block.  The students all designed and made their crowns, costumes and set themselves in their art lessons.

Sports Day

Classes II - VIII had a great day at our Sports Day in Parliament Hill Athletics track.  Class VI helped facilitate the games and the students moved through the different activities in mixed age groups.  Despite the slightly chilly weather, the children worked up a sweat with running, long jump, tug of war and relay.

The other week, Classes II to V had the privilege of watching the London Symphony Orchestra live at the Barbican, also taking in Ibrahim Mahama's installation Purple Hibiscus.  Class V walked all the way there and back, taking in the Spring sunshine.

Above the earth, the flowers open to the sunlight. It's time to bloom and grow! Storyteller Emily from Dragonfly Tales returns to the Chapel with new songs and stories to anticipate the arrival of Summer.

Arrive early to see the beautiful new stained glass windows, one for each of the four seasons. The doors to the Chapel will be open from 9.45am, with the storytelling starting promptly at 10am.

This is an event designed for families with children from 1-8 years of age, please book a ticket for every person in your group. (Babes in arms are welcome, no ticket needed). We want everyone to be able to access this event and feel welcome at Abney Park. To request free tickets, please contact info@abneypark.org and we will be happy to provide them.
