French

The children enjoyed a Gâteau des Rois last week in celebration of the epiphany and the arrival of the three kings in Bethlehem- it is a brioche shaped as a crown with little candied fruits on top representing the gifts brought by the three kings to little Jesus. This cake is the nut-free alternative to the Galette and is traditionally eaten in the South of France throughout January.

Burns Night Ceilidh

Classes III, IV and V and their families enjoyed a Ceilidh last week, organised by Class V parents. There was live folk music from St Paul's favourites Cutashine, vegan haggis, neeps and tatties and traditional cranachan for pudding.  The children sang some Scottish folk songs and toasted the Haggis.  Thank you Class V parents for organising!

Class VII beloved teacher left this week on Maternity Leave last week.  Each child knitted or crocheted a square for a beautiful baby blanket.  We wish you the best of luck Ms Tate and we can't wait to meet your baby!

Wellbeing Day

We had our Wellbeing Day on 12th January.  Throughout the day the students in the Classes learnt yoga, meditation, experienced a Soundbath, painted and received advice on nutrition and health. They also made a fire and cooked some hot chocolate together.

Class V Play

Class V performed their play The Minotour to the Classes and parents last week.  It was such an immersive and exciting play that they clearly worked so hard on with Mrs Steggall.

Events at Abney Park

Spring is coming! It may feel cold and windy, but underneath the ground the seeds are stirring for Imbolc - the coming of Spring. Join storyteller Emily from Dragonfly Tales for an interactive story adventure, celebrating the ancient Celtic battle between winter and spring - who do you think will win?

This time of year marks the turning of the seasons, with the Celtic festival of Imbolc falling midway between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. Come and shake off the winter blues with traditional stories and songs to celebrate new life awakening in the natural world around us. Then take a walk in our beautiful nature reserve and see if you can find the spring shoots emerging!

This  is an event for families with children aged 4+, please book a ticket for every person in your group, whatever their age. (Babes in arms welcome, no ticket needed).  We want everyone to be able to access this event and feel welcome at Abney Park. If you are unemployed or on a low income and would like us to arrange free tickets for you, please contact
