The first Steiner school in London was evacuated to Sussex during the Second World War. When peace came the school remained outside London. Since then Steiner education has struggled to establish a thriving school in the capital city as the schools have always been too poor to afford permanent premises. When members of the premises group of the then North London School found our building it was a unique opportunity despite the dilapidation of the church and the fact that we did not have the millions necessary to immediately convert it into a school and community education centre. A pioneering initiative was established called St Pauls Steiner Project.

"The Project" is responsible for the conversion of this Grade 2* listed Charles Barry church into a centre providing education for children during the day and adult education and entertainment in evening and weekends. Over the years volunteers and parents of the school have done the lion's share of the work on the building.
